Stallion Service Auction Terms and Conditions

 
   
1. Stallion service donations will be accepted up until the start of the auction. No stallion service donation will be accepted after the auction has started.

2. A stallion owner may bid on and purchase his own stallion service.

3. Any person donating or bidding on a stallion service must be in good standing with the American Paint Horse Association and the Indiana Paint Horse Club.

4. Bidding will start at 50% of the advertised auction fee or $150, whichever is greater. Private treaty stud fees will start with a minimum bid of $250.

5. Stallion services not sold the day of the auction may be purchased for 50% of the stud fee until Feb. 15th, the current year of the auction. Starting Feb. 16th until June 1st, stallion services may be purchased for 60% of the stud fee.

6. Starting June 1st through June 30th, only the owner of the stallion may purchase his donated stallion service, for a $100 fee. This entitles the stallion owner one entry the following year in the SSA weanling division. That same entry will be eligible to be entered in the SSA yearling and 2 yr. Old classes, for a $100 entry fee each class, in the appropriate years.

7. Stallions donated to this auction and mares to be bred to stallions purchased through this auction must be eligible to have a registered APHA foal. They must be registered with the APHA, AQHA, or JC. The resulting foal must have at least one APHA registered parent.

8. Services sold are for the current breeding season, live foal guaranteed only to the extent of one return the following year.

9. Stallion services purchased through the SSA may not be sold or transferred by purchaser for any reason without prior approval of the IPHC board of directors.

10. Payment shall be in cash or negotiable check. Any bid $250 or less must be paid in full at the time of purchase. For any bid over $250, at least 50% of the amount bid must be paid at time of purchase. The remaining 50% must be paid by April 1st, the year of purchase. All fees must be paid for in full before a mare is bred.

11. Phone bids will be accepted. Payment for phone bids must be received within 7 days of purchase, or the stallion service will again be made available for purchase.

12. Stallion and mare owners are subject to a $200 penalty charge if the mare is bred before the service has been paid in full.

13. Under no circumstances will any money be refunded. Under special circumstances (such as death of the stallion) and approval of the IPHC Board of Directors, a mare owner may be given credit for money already paid to purchase another available stallion service. If a credit balance remains, the mare owner will forfeit this amount.

14. All monies for mare care, chute fees, shipped semen fees, etc. are to be collected by and paid to the stallion owner. Stallion owners shall indicate on their information sheets the amount charged for mare care, chute fee, shipping fees, or any other charges to be paid by the mare owner. The IPHC shall not be held responsible in any disputes between the stallion owner and stallion service purchaser.
 

Stallion Service Auction Futurity Rules:

1. The Indiana Paint Horse Club futurity shall consist of three divisions. Money will be divided 60% to the weanling division, 20% to the yearling division, and 20% to the 2-yr. Old division.

2. In order for a weanling to be eligible to be shown in the SSA futurity, it must be the offspring of a stallion whose service sold the previous year in the SSA, or in the case of a carry-over sold two years previous. When a stallion service is sold, this gives the stallion owner one free entry (of choice) and gives the stallion service purchaser one free entry (out of pre-designated mare).

3. There shall be a maximum one year carry-over if either the stallion owner or mare owner does not have an entry the year following purchase (or sale) of the stallion service. To retain eligibility, ALL carry-overs MUST be reported to the SSA futurity chairperson by July 1st, the year following sale (or purchase) of the stallion service.

4. All stallion owners and mare owners must enter their SSA eligible weanlings by July 1st. Even if an eligible weanling will not be shown its' weanling year, to remain eligible for free entry in all appropriate yearling and 2 yr. Old SSA classes, the weanling must be reported IN WRITING to the SSA chairperson by July 1st.

5. The weanling division shall consist of junior colts, senior colts, junior fillies and senior fillies. Cut-off dates shall be decided by dividing the entries equally into junior and senior classes. In case of an odd number of entries, any weanling born prior to or on March 15th shall be placed in the senior class. Entries in the weanling classes are limited to one free entry by the stallion owner and one free entry by the mare owner. This division is closed to all other entries.

6. The yearling division shall consist of a longe line class and three halter classes; mare, gelding, and stallion. Any yearling that was eligible to be a free entry in the previous years' SSA futurity shall be eligible for free entry in any of the appropriate yearling classes. All other offspring, with at least one APHA registered parent, resulting from a stallion whose service sold two years prior, shall be eligible for entry into their appropriate for a $100 entry fee per class.

7. The 2-yr. old division shall consist of a Western Pleasure class and a Hunter Under Saddle class. Any 2-yr. old that was eligible to be a free SSA entry their weanling year shall be eligible for free entry into either or both classes. All other offspring, with at least one APHA registered parent, resulting from a stallion whose service sold 3 yrs prior, shall be eligible for entry into either or both classes for a $100 entry fee per class.

8. All owners and exhibitors of entries in the SSA must be members of the IPHC, and be in good standing with the IPHC and APHA.

9. To be eligible for entry into any SSA futurity class, the entry must have at least one APHA registered parent.

10. The entry deadline for entering any SSA futurity class is July 1st. NO late entries will be accepted. It is the exhibitor's responsibility to report all entries and carry-overs by the July 1st deadline. The IPHC, its officers, directors and chairpersons cannot be held responsible for any missed deadlines.

11. In the yearling and 2 yr. old classes, a copy of the entries' registration certificate must be sent at the time of entry. In the weanling division, a copy of the weanling's registration certificate must be sent before any monies will be paid. As long as copies of registration certificates are provided, all payback checks will be mailed on or before Oct. 1st. Registration copies must be received by Dec 31st, or all winnings will be forfeited.

12. Money will be divided according to the number of entries shown.

13. The IPHC Board of Directors decisions' shall be final on any rules not included herein.
