What is Compete Indiana?
The Indiana Paint Horse Club awards year end high points to
InPHC members enrolled in Compete Indiana, reporting their placings
in any PAC category. You do not have to be an APHA member enrolled
in the APHA PAC Program to be eligible for Compete Indiana. We urge
you to also enroll in the APHA's PAC program and earn national
recognition too!
Official performance record
Through PAC, APHA records the performance of your registered
American Paint-Regular Registry or Breeding Stock-when it performs
in an activity outside of breed-approved shows. For your victories
in any PAC category, you earn credits that are recorded on the
performance record of your horse.
Recognition for your success
APHA will award a Certificate of Recognition to your registered
Paint Horse when it earns at least 20 credits in any one approved
category. An APHA Certificate of Achievement is awarded when that
horse earns 60 or more credits in any one approved category.
APHA issues annual awards based upon the number of credits
earned by all horses in a particular category during the year. If
your horse is the one that earns the most credits in a category
during the year, you will be named PAC Year-End Leader in that
activity, and receive a plaque and recognition in the Paint Horse
Journal. APHA will present Six PAC Top Five awards to the top five
horses earning the most credits in at least six different categories
and will award the title of Six PAC Champion to the horse that wins
at least six different categories on the PAC Leader's List in a
single year.
Easy enrollment
Although APHA membership is not required to enroll in PAC, you must
be a member to receive any award from the association. Plus, APHA
membership offers additional benefits of member rates on services,
publications and other programs. The cost to enroll in the PAC
program is $25 per year. You will receive your PAC card and several
report forms approximately two to three weeks after the application
is processed. After you receive your card, you are ready to start
earning credits. You must be a member of the InPHC to be eligible
for Compete Indiana awards. Other than your membership fee, there is
no additional charge for Compete Indiana.
Easy to report
When you go to your next Paint Alternative Competition, have fun and
do your best. When you place in the event, stop by the event
secretary's or manager's office and present them your PAC card and
official report form.
Ask the official to inspect your enrollment card and your horse's
registration papers to verify your participation on a registered
American Paint Horse. Next ask the official to sign the report form,
which tells APHA how you finished in the event and how many horses
were entered. Then return the report, along with a show bill, to
APHA within 30 days of the event. Make a copy, and send it to the
InPHC Compete Indiana Chairman, Lee Ann Andrews 4114 E 1000 N
Syracuse, IN 46567 (574) 658-3191. You will then be
awarded credits by APHA (and InPHC) based upon your placing and the
number of horses you competed against-using the same formula the
association uses to award points to exhibitors at APHA-approved
shows. Compete Indiana will use the same point scale used for
InPHC approved events.
How is an event approved?
The event's Manager or Secretary must submit a PAC Approval
application to the APHA. The information that is required is: Name
of Club or Organization, Tentative Schedule of Dates for Shows,
Club/Show Manager's and address, Club Record Keeper's Name and
address. The sponsoring organization needs to be a "Record keeping,
governed club or organization that will provide information or
results of PAC competitors to the APHA up to one year after the
events, if requested." There is no charge for APHA PAC approval.
Approved events will be listed in the Paint Horse Journal free of
charge. Compete Indiana approved events must be held within the
State of Indiana.
